Ford uses recycled materials in new and upcoming vehicles

2013 Ford Fusion Energi

Ford and Coca-Cola have recently teamed up to make car fabric from the plant-based and renewable material found in the soft drink maker’s bottles. The new fabric debuted on the Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid car. Ford was able to utilize technology from Coca-Cola to create the first-ever automotive fabrics that are 30 percent plant material. This isn’t the only way Ford is being environmentally conscious either. For more information of Ford vehicles, visit Chapman Ford.

The Ford F-150 may be one of the toughest trucks on the road today, but that doesn’t mean it is impervious to a little sustainability. In the wiring harnesses of new F-150s, Ford uses rice hulls in their production. One 2014 Ford F-150 truck uses the equivalent of about 10 pairs of jeans, 26 bath towels, or 31 T-shirts as carpet insulation or sound absorber.

The F-150 also uses recycled tires and post-consumer recycled polypropylene to make shields and underbody coverings. These recycled materials are finding their way across the entire Ford lineup as time goes on, and the technology becomes better situated for numerous applications.

Another avenue Ford has taken to help the environment is with its engines. Using turbocharging technology with smaller-displacement engines, Ford is able to provide the power and torque of a large engine with the fuel economy of a smaller one. This technology allows for the use of smaller engines, like a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine in the upcoming 2015 Ford Mustang and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine in current the Ford F-150.

With the turbocharging technology, Ford is able to offer a three-cylinder engine in the new Ford Fiesta. It has the power of a larger engine, but even better fuel economy than the previous offerings. This type of combination is key to Ford and other environmentally conscious individuals.

Ford is also introducing hybrid and electric vehicles. They offer a fully electric Ford Focus. Also available is the Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid that combines small displacement with electric technology.

Ford is taking the helm of new technologies to recycle and be environmentally conscious. Stop by your Scottsdale Ford dealer today for the latest information.

2015 Ford Mustang

Ford Motor Company

The 2015 Ford Mustang is one of the most hotly anticipated cars of the year. For Ford, the 2015 Mustang could easily be considered one of the most important cars for the company as the car celebrates its 50th anniversary. This made Ford realize that they had to create a home-run hit right out of the gate. For all the latest information on the 2015 Ford Mustang, check out Chapman Ford.

Mustang Design

Even though the Mustang is all-new for 2015, including its sheet metal and chassis, it still is unmistakably a Mustang. Since 2005, the Mustang has paraded a retro-design theme that other manufacturers quickly adopted. Ford knew it could no longer depend on that theme for success.

“We told our design team: ‘We’re untying your hands. Everything that we said was sacred from an engineering perspective is no longer sacred,’” said Dave Pericak, Chief Engineer of the Ford Mustang, in an interview with Car and Driver.

The 2015 Mustang retains the long hood and short deck lid, along with the highly popular sequential taillights. While the car has acquired a version of the Ford’s corporate front end, where many are calling it a Fusion coupe, its design still screams Mustang.

Mustang Powertrain

One of the largest and most interesting aspects of the 2015 Ford Mustang is the introduction of a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine producing an astonishing 305-plus horsepower.

Yes, the classic 5.0-liter V-8 will be back with even more power than before. The 3.6-liter V-6 will still be available, though the V-6 is expected to produce less power than before to make room for the new four-cylinder engine in the lineup.

The six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are carry over from the previous year car, though paddle shifters are now offered on the automatic.

Mustang Interior

The interior of the Mustang has been a place of contention for many years. The previous generation had what many would call a good interior. The 2015 Ford Mustang has a great one.

With airplane style toggle switches, amenities like memory seats and push-button start, and a higher level of fit and finish, the 2015 Ford Mustang will be a capable performance car with the styling and features it deserves.

Be sure to set up a test drive at your Scottsdale Ford dealer to experience the new Ford Mustang. The 2015 Ford Mustang will be on dealership lots this fall.
