NHTSA Issues Five-Star Ranking

With safety features like inflatable rear seat belts, front and rear cameras and side parking sensors, Ford continues to push the envelope with safety features offered on the 2015 Ford Edge. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rewarded the company’s efforts by issuing the highest safety ranking possible for the popular family crossover vehicle. “The new Edge delivers on the quality and handling customers have come to expect from a Ford vehicle, while infusing more innovation and advanced technology to create a vehicle that we think will maintain its leadership position in its segment,” said chief Edge program engineer J.D. Shanahan.

Edge Inspires Confidence in Tough Driving Conditions

New technology like a 180-degree front view camera with a washer, curve control, a glove box knee airbag, collision warning and lane assist help the driver maintain control of the vehicle during inclement weather and high traffic volume times. It’s important to note that the lane assist feature does not take control of the vehicle, but instead releases a series of warnings until the vehicle is back under control. It’s important for the driver to be responsible for safe operation of the vehicle at all times. All the new safety features are available now at Chapman Ford in Scottsdale.

First Year for EcoBoost Engine

A new feature in the 2015 Edge is the 2.0-liter I4 EcoBoost engine that delivers horsepower when you need it and fuel efficiency when its time to cruise. Ford has matched the EcoBoost engine up perfectly with a 6-speed automatic transmission that delivers plenty of torque for going up mountains, merging onto freeways or getting out of a dangerous situation quickly. It’s the perfect engine for someone who wants to protect the environment while living life in the fast lane.

Stunning Features Make Edge a Joy to Drive

From the huge Vista Roof® that lets the outside in to ambient lighting for a little mood creation at night, the Ford Edge is as fun to look at as it is to drive. Move up to the Titanium or Sport Trim Packages for leather seating and trim, metal accents and the use of high quality materials that make a bold statement about your dedication to an enjoyable driving experience. Add the 3.5-liter V6 engine and you have an uncompromising package that delivers 280 horsepower and more than 250 foot-pounds of torque when you bury the accelerator. Not Your Dad’s Old Galaxie

Back in the days when your dad took his Galaxie 500 to a shade tree mechanic for an oil change or break job, the only mention of “code” was if the mechanic had anything code to drink. Keys to a successful tune-up included gapping and installing new spark plugs, adjusting points and tweaking the timing until the big V-8 was a smooth running machine. Computers have taken over most of the electronic jobs on modern cars, but even the most complex vehicles dwarf in sophistication when compared to the Ford GT.

More Complicated Than an Airliner

The Ford GT uses 10 million lines of mission critical code to complete its complicated tasks. That compares to only 7 million lines for a Boeing 787 jetlner and just 2 million lines for a Lockheed Raptor Fighter. Ford says the code is necessary to help fledgling drivers control the GT on the road. By automatically switching power through its traction control system, the GT corrects the mistakes of an over-aggressive driver while also improving stablility.

Delivers Plenty of Pop to the Road

Although the code is important to keep the rubber side of the GT affixed to the road, drivers are bound to be more impressed with the instant response offered by the 600 horsepower engine. Due to be released next year, the best place to get information on the new Ford GT is at Chapman Ford in Scottsdale. Carbon fiber construction almost guarantees the GT will have the best power-to-weight ratio of any production vehicle in the world.

Fun Times Ahead for GT Owners

Cool features like a spoiler that acts as an air brake to apply down force and reduce speed quickly, neon circular taillights, the ability for the whole vehicle to lower itself to add stability and the use of flying buttresses for air intake tubes that provides a 360-degree cooling element as air enters and leaves the engine make the GT a technological masterpiece. Stay tuned until next year when you can stop by Chapman Ford and look at this sophisticated sports car for yourself.

New GT Expected at LeMans

The next showing of the Ford GT will be at the 24 Hours of LeMans in early June, where Ford Motor Company executive William Ford will serve as guest starter. It was at LeMans where the Ford FT40 won the race four consecutive times from 1966 through 1969.
