F-22 Jet Inspires New High-Performance Raptor

Inspired by the U.S. Air Force Fighter Jet of the same name, the Ford F-22 F-150 Raptor is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that helped raise money for youth interested in aviation. Ford built the truck to be auctioned off at the Experimental Aircraft Association Gathering of Eagles. The sale raised $300,000 for the Young Eagle group, which is dedicated to helping children develop a love of aviation. Although you can’t buy the F-22 Raptor, Chapman Ford has a wide selection of the popular off-road truck. Stop in today for a test drive.

Takes the Ultimate High-Performance Truck Higher

The Ford F-150 Raptor is already the ultimate high-performance truck for people serious about their off-roading adventures. Ford kicked the F-22 version up a notch, inserting an intercooled and high-output 3.5L EcoBoost Twin Turbo engine that generates 545 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque. “Our job – both in the air and on the ground – is to intimidate the competition,” said Melvin Betancourt, Ford design manager. “Few things are as streamlined, as gloriously intimidating as the shape, metallic color and sinister speed a fighter jet represents. The simple, extreme functionality of the cockpit alone proved inspiring, prompting the team to create matte finishes, purposeful gauges, controls for ready proximity and dramatic LED lighting for the instrument panel.” The F-22 Raptor had many other innovations, including racing shocks and custom forged beadlock wheels, a 1.3 million candela off-road lighting system, 1,500-watt audio surround sound and carbon fiber fender flares with fender and hood vents to help keep the engine cool.

Raptor Ready for Your Off-road Trip

Although the F-22 Raptor was built for one lucky person, you can still get your hands on the most capable off-road truck on the planet by visiting Chapman Ford in Scottsdale. The Ford Raptor recently completed the SCORE Baja 1000 grueling off-road race in almost stock version. With a 450 horsepower 3.5L EcoBoost engine providing the power, a torque on demand transfer case distributing that power, and an off-road suspension system built with premium parts, the Raptor can take anything you want to put in its way.

Raptor is ‘Big, Bad and Bold’

Car and Driver Magazine took the Ford F-150 Raptor on what turned into a 40,000-mile test drive. The end result? They call it “big, bad and bold.”  They wrote that for all its off-road prowess, and there’s plenty of that, the Raptor is still perfect for hauling large loads or taking the kids to school. It features a sophisticated cabin with leather seats that have big bolsters to hold you in place when the trail gets a little dicey. The use of premium materials and loads of technology keep you comfortable while the terrain gets out of control. The only way to truly experience a Raptor is to take one for a test drive. The friendly folks at Chapman Ford are ready and waiting to help you do just that.
