Focus RS tops Golf and Subaru in Comparison Test

Brawny RS Delivers Athletic Performance

The editors at “Car and Driver” magazine were quick to create a comparison test between the new Ford Focus RS, recently unveiled at a media event in Europe, and the VW Golf R and Subaru WRX STI. The RS was the clear winner across the board, delivering the most horsepower to go along with a brawny, athletic performance that made short work of a European road course. Calling it “more exciting than the staid Golf” and “much more polished than the brutish STI,” the editors were wowed at both the power and handling of this latest addition to the Ford sport car stable. Stay tuned to Chapman Ford to see when the Focus RS will be arriving in the showroom.

Civilized Focus Serves Well as Daily Driver

Although it is perfectly capable of tearing up the track (and a few tires if you continually push it to its limits), the Ford Focus RS also provides a quiet and comfortable ride that makes it the perfect daily driver for someone who wants to put a little thrill in the office carpool. “Car and Driver” editors gave it high scores for driver comfort and ergonomics, as well as interior styling and fit and finish. Exterior styling also received high marks, as did fuel economy and handling. The Focus RS was the only vehicle to receive a perfect score in the “fun to drive” category.

All-Wheel Drive Keeps You in Control

The 2016 Focus RS comes with an all-wheel drive system specially made for performance vehicles. Whether you’re driving in ice and snow, on rain-soaked roads or simply letting off a little steam, this system delivers power where it is needed to keep you in control. The 2.3L EcoBoost engine produces a lot of pop for a little motor, delivering 350 horsepower and 350 pound feet of torque, both best-in-class numbers. Features such as electronic brake assist, electronic power-assisted steering and the ability to select different drive modes all combine to help you control this quick little sports car.

RS Loaded With Features

Along with the large engine and 6-speed manual sport transmission, the Focus RS comes with leather trimmed front seats that include the RS logo and an upscale Sony audio system with 10 speakers. Add on the optional RS2 package and you get a power driver seat, heated mirrors, heated front seats, heated steering wheel and a voice-activated navigation system. Check in with the pros at Chapman Ford to see when the Focus RS will be available for a test drive.
