Redesigned Ranger Ready to Take Midsize Truck Market by Storm

When Ford put the midsize Ranger pickup to pasture in North America a few years back, it was because of the popularity and range of trim levels that made the F-150 the most popular vehicle in the USA. The F-150 is still doing extremely well, but the company has determined there is room in the midsize truck market for another player, and that’s why the Ford Ranger is coming back strong for 2019. With a rugged steel frame, powerful and efficient 2.3L EcoBoost engine and exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission, the new Ranger will offer a clear choice to consumers when it comes to the Chapman Ford showroom later this year.

Midsize Truck Sales on the Rise

The midsize truck fits a perfect niche for people who need to do a little hauling on the weekend but still need a maneuverable vehicle for their daily commute. With sales in that category up 83 percent since 2014, Ford decided it was time to re-enter the market with a powerful, athletic truck that’s filled with modern technology. “Ranger has always held a special place in the hearts of truck fans,” according to Ford VP Hau Thai-Tang. “The all-new Ranger is designed for today’s midsize truck buyer, delivering even more utility, capability and technology for those who blend city living with more off-the-grid adventures on weekends.” The new Ford Ranger will come in three different trim levels with a variety of special packages geared toward specific customer demands.

Filled With New Technology

Along with an available SYNC3 infotainment system that utilizes advanced voice recognition software to control all your entertainment and communication needs, the new Ford Ranger also has an available FordPass Connect modem that will turn the truck into a rolling hotspot, allowing for the connection of up to 10 Wi-Fi devices. A bevy of driver assistance features that rely on cameras and sensors to help you avoid collisions is also available. Choose the LED headlamps and tail lamps to help people see you coming and going, as well as illuminate your way on dark roads.

EcoBoost Provides Power, Gas Mileage

The 2.3L Ford EcoBoost engine is a proven commodity when it comes to providing both power and efficiency in other company models. With direct fuel injection, a 16-valve design and twin-scroll turbocharger, the motor provides surprising torque and acceleration with the ability to pass other trucks while they’re sitting at the gas pumps. “Ranger’s proven 2.3-liter EcoBoost provides a torque target on par with competing V6 engines, but with the efficiency of a four-cylinder,” Thai-Tang said. “When you pair that with its 10-speed transmission, you’ve got one of the most versatile, powerful and efficient powertrains in the segment.” See the new Ford Ranger this fall and take a test drive when it arrives at Chapman Ford in Scottsdale.
