Ford Boosts Performance on New Mustang Convertible

Sleeker Pony Car Offers Advanced Technology

The latest incarnation of the world’s most popular pony car convertible was recently unveiled in preparation of a tour of 50 auto shows across the country. The new Ford Mustang convertible will be available for test drives and purchase this fall at Chapman Ford, offering a sleeker design, three new paint colors and 12 unique wheel choices. A digital instrument cluster that’s customizable with a memory function and new driver assistance features are all part of the tech upgrade. “The new Mustang is our best ever, based on more than 50 years as one of the iconic sports cars in America, and now, the world,” said Ford Americas president Joe Hinrichs. “Tapping Mustang’s enormous fan base, we’re bringing the new Mustang straight to the people – and introducing the new car across multiple social media channels, reaching millions.”

New Mustang Offers Personalization

Along with the ability to customize your instrument display on the 12-inch all-digital LCD screen, Ford is introducing an “active” exhaust system that lets you fine-tune the rumble on the Mustang GT. The throaty roar of the Mustang announces the arrival of a performance machine, whether you choose the ultra-efficient and surprisingly powerful 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine or the legendary 5.0L V8. Choose the manual transmission and you’ll find it has been upgraded to produce the most torque possible. The 10-speed automatic transmission is all new, delivering higher than average acceleration and improved performance and efficiency.

MagneRide Improves Handling

MagneRide is a new damper technology available on the 2018 Ford Mustang that not only improves handling, but also provides a more comfortable ride. Adaptive dampers continually adjust to road conditions and your driving style to correct understeer and keep you in control, particularly when attacking challenging corners. MagneRide works in conjunction with new shock absorbers and a cross-axis joint in the rear to improve lateral stiffness. In short, you’ll be able to control your new Mustang even when you have your foot to the floor.

Design Emphasizes Vehicle’s Athleticism

Since its introduction for the 1964 1/2 model year, the Mustang has always maintained a sporty and athletic profile. The 2018 model, coming to Chapman Ford this fall, is even more athletic. The hood and grille are lower and more aerodynamic than ever, interrupted by a pair of headlights that appear to be moving in for the kill. Both the headlights and taillights are LED, with foglights available as an option. Step into the interior and you’ll notice the use of more premium materials, even in the base models. Contrasting stitching and aluminum trim add a touch of class, with more choice than ever in the materials and colors for the seats. An optional heated steering wheel and the SYNC Connect infotainment system with Ford Pass are also available.
